Release Description

The Beginning contains the first couple of songs Freestyle Picnic ever scrambeled together, and a couple of selected works wich brought us the inspiration to form as a band.
After playing cover songs for almost a year, basically trying to figure out how play and
how to interact with other instruments, vocals and drums, our very first song Captain Burrows was written and composed. After that it was no turning back.
We soon had a whole bunch of songs we wanted to record. The recording took place in the studio of Arvid Tjelta, whom has a brilliant ear, all the tools and knows how to press the right buttons. The whole album was recorded during one weekend. We split the record into two sections; one with our own stuff, and one section for our own version of some of the songs that inspiered this whole thing.

Asbjørn:
The song Sixteen Tons is one of those, and I really wanted to make my own version of it, because my grandfather on my mothers side always used to sing this particular song, and so it talks to me in a profound way. My grandfather on my fathers side also is very musical and contributes on some of the songs playing his feddle.

The covershots were taken in a park near here called Aboreet by Gine Stangeland.
